What should you do when you get a pop-up window that tells you you have a virus?

Video Transcript:

"This is Daniel Schwartz with Design I.T. Solutions bringing you your next Tech Tip. Today we're going to talk about browsing on the internet and fake antivirus.
"A lot of websites have been compromised by hackers, and they're legitimate sites you go to.
"GoDaddy just recently had a breach that allowed hackers into millions of websites that they host. These hackers could have injected malicious code into any of these websites.
"One of the things they'll do is put a pop-up on the site. This pop-up looks like your antivirus software telling you that you have a virus, and to click the pop up to run a full scan.
"What that actually does when you click is download their virus to your computer and then infect your machine.
"When you see one of these pop-ups, don't click "x" or "close." Don't click anything, because that will still activate the link.
"You want to close Internet Explorer, or Firefox, or whatever browser you have open, and then control-alt-delete task manager if you have to to end the task. After that, immediately call us.
"Your IT company needs to get in and take a look to make sure you didn't actually infect your machine.
"Let's make sure it's clean, and then after that - keep safe browsing.
"That's your tip for this week."
