Make sure you keep all personally identifiable information secure and protected!

"Hey guys, welcome back. This week let's talk about personal information that gets stored - not your personal information, but customers' personal information - and how you store it.
"A lot of times you're on the phone or you're working on something and you need to make a note, and you get back to it - you'll put it in the EMR, you'll put it in the CRM software in a little bit - but you're right in the middle of five things. So you either write it down, or you have a notepad, or a sticky pad up on your computer and you type down that patient or that customer's social security number, or credit card, date of birth - whatever it is. That's personally identifiable information, and you can't do that.
"So I know a lot of times we're in a hurry, we have stuff we have to get done and we're right in the middle of something, but it's really important that you actually take the time to put it into the proper system. The reason why is that is cached data and hackers can actually get into that, where they couldn't have gotten into your secure system. So even though it's a quick fix, you're opening yourself up to liability for that person's information to get stolen.
"That's it for this week, talk to you next week."
