Is it okay to check your personal email at work?

"Welcome back. Today we're going to talk about appropriate use at work.
"It's pretty easy to have your Yahoo, Gmail, whatever account up when you're at work and just keep checking email.
"This is a bad thing - let's not do it.
"Most appropriate use policies are going to tell you not to use the computer for personal use. It's not because they don't like you, it's really about accidents.
"You're more likely to get a phishing attempt or a scam or malicious emails in your personal email than your work email. The less opportunity you have to spread that virus the better.
"We recommend on your break go check your email, but do it from your personal device. Everybody has a cellphone that has internet, so check it from there.
"Use your personal device for personal stuff - keep work-related stuff completely separate.
"That's it for today."
